Here at Father's House we are aware of the growing anxiety of people in Britain. Rising crime, a sinking economy, an impending sense of a global catastrophe, two wars still being fought and an overwhelming sense by many people that life has no purpose or meaning has sent shock waves through our nation
Take a look at the following statistics. Two-thirds of voters think that Britain is broken and nearly half dream of a new life abroad. Almost 60% believe standards have dropped so much they no longer recognise the country they live in while 38% said they where anxious about the future. Nearly half said they were happier ten years ago while a massive 76% believe that society is broken by crime and all sorts of other problems. On top of all this people have lost their faith in the leaders of this country as a huge 73% believe that politics is broken too. Conservative leader David Cameron has made it in his party manifesto a pledge to mend "Broken Britain." But with peoples faith in the politicians of this country broken too, he might have a bit of a fight on his hands.
Apparently this is not just a feeling of pessimism limited to Britain alone. In the United States a shocking 57% of people polled said they feared America was heading in the wrong direction!
These figures do indeed show an alarming rise in negative attitudes in people. It seems that people are becoming more an more aware of the overwhelming problems facing all of us.

As usual there is the growing feeling of unhappiness among the younger section of society as our young people feel increasingly let down and are growing up feeling worthless and misunderstood by an un-enlightened and patronising older generation. Once again this very problem reveals itself in an alarming batch of statistics. Due to a colossal lack of guidance from a society heavily influenced by a secular humanist mentality our young people find themselves isolated and increasingly alone, feeling more lost than ever before. Teen pregnancy rates in particular show how our society is failing our youngsters as a recent survey revealed -300 girls under 13 get pregnant every year.
schoolgirls as young as TEN are now falling pregnant.
since 2002 there have been over 63,000 pregnancies among under-15s- almost 23 every day. They include 268 pregnant girls aged 12, 2527 aged 13, 14,777 aged 14 and 45,861 aged 15.

Even more alarming are Government statistics that show that 60 per cent of underage pregnant girls have abortions! That is a lot of abortions! Alarmingly this represents a huge rise in foetus genocide, wiping out the possibility of new life, new life as created by God to potentially walk this earth and achieve astounding goals. As a doctor was reported as stating in a tabloid newspaper: "the average pre-teen knows nothing about mothering-she needs it herself." She also states that "the experience sends them into a grey area where they are neither a child nor a grown-up." It seems that today in "Broken Britain" even children are being profoundly affected having their once innocent childhood stolen from them by a cold and indifferent adult population with sometimes devastating results.
Add to this the alarming rise in juvenile crime. Nearly every time we open a newspaper we seem to be bombarded with reports of knife-crime and gun-crime spiralling out of control especially among our inner-city youth. Greater numbers of promising young lives are being extinguished in pools of blood every day by youths whose very attitude seems to be: "Aw what the hell does it matter how I live my life and what I do with it. As for the future, well this is no future." Substance and drug abuse is also spiralling out of control as more and more youngster take the easy way out and take that same route of self-destructive behaviour.
As we have seen, Britain in the early part of the 21st century is not a very happy place to live in-perhaps for every sector of society whether rich or poor, young or old, educated or illiterate, whatever your social or economic position might be.

After reading all this negative information you may be thinking right now: "Is there a solution of any kind to all this mess?" The answer is "YES" but perhaps not the easy straight-forward answer you might be thinking of- rather a God-centred solution. Fathers House Church is I think a God-inspired alternative to the usual answers and solutions promised by our politicians and also by our Psychologists, social services and behavioural experts, unfortunately seemingly without much success. Perhaps God has allowed us to drift further into this mess because He is trying to tell us something, that is if we'll listen. Our economy is damaged and other factors are not looking so good right now so maybe its time for a change, a change that ultimately comes from within, a spiritual change within the heart of the individual. Fathers House is geared towards achieving this change in society as we humbly acknowledge our human limitation and place our destiny both temporal and eternal in the hands of the Creator God of the universe. God himself says: "If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face..... I will hear from heaven and will restore their land." (2 Chron.7.14 NLT). Thats pretty direct wouldn't you say. Did you notice God says My people who are called, by My name, in other words we are all Gods children who have responsibility towards God and each other. The message translation puts it like this: "my God-defined people", and "I'll be there ready for you." So God actually "defines" who we are and says "I'm here for you." God "defining" who we are has profound implications in itself as this actually describes who and what we are at the very deepest levels of our existence. God has actually "planted eternity in the human heart" the Bible says, so this in itself indicates the natural human longing to seek something or someone greater than ourselves a nature of reality beyond our physical senses. It was actually the 5th-century sage St Augustine who stated that "our hearts are restless until we truly find rest in in you." We are never complete in ourselves until we are complete in him, yet God says He is "here for you." If you are one of these young people who feel terribly let down by society and if perhaps you are even hooked on drugs or you generally feel that perhaps life is not worth living right now and that no-one understands you, know that God does and that He wants to bless your life and give you hope. Perhaps these words will help you: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Commit those words to your heart and begin to dream a new hope. You do have a future, trust God. God wants to be a massive part of your life not just for now but for eternity. If you begin to trust in him who knows where he might be planning to take you. If more people could adopt a more spiritual God-centred attitude who knows what implications this could have on our society. I believe that God wants to bless Britain not just in a spiritual way but also in a material way. If we aim right then I think all sorts of blessings will come our way. Ultimately this could be the ultimate solution to all our country's problems, a restored and prosperous and ultimately spiritually regenerated nation.

A rather comforting thought after all the pessimism. So if God really is here for you, whats stopping you from taking that first step of faith? If you really feel something stirring inside you right now-whatever it may be-just ask God to guide you and acknowledge that you cant make it alone, none of us can. If you at least do that who knows what He will do for you.
Take that first step towards finding God as he really is "ready for you," and who knows, I think you may be surprised.
